William "Bill"'s Story
I'll start in high school...after leaving New Orleans and Jesuit High School to move to Ft Walton Beach, FL, I finished up at Choctaw High in 1983. I returned to Louisiana for a great 5 1/2 years at LSU (I was doing everything possible to be a perpetual student and stay at LSU forever) where I finally graduated with a degree in Economics in 1988. After traveling the United States and Europe for as long as I could afford and then working in marketing for a while, I was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Air Force. I've been doing that ever since. I've had assignments in Missouri; Okinawa, Japan; San Antonio, TX; Baton Rouge, LA (teaching ROTC at LSU for 3 years -- greatest job I'll ever have), Montgomery, AL; Ramstein AB, Germany; Los Angeles Air Force Base, California (where I was a Squadron Commander); and now the Air Staff at the Pentagon. I've also deployed many times to include Operation Desert Storm; throughout the South Pacifi...Expand for more
c and Asia to include Thailand, Korea, and Guam; Bosnia; Operation Enduring Freedom; and most recently to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The Air Force life has been a good one for me and my wife, Susan. We met while we were both stationed at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan. She was a civilian counselor for the Air Force stationed at the same base and in the same building as I was. It was destiny. Susan is originally from Oklahoma and a proud "Boomer Sooner", but I've partially converted her to LSU Tiger where she finished her PhD in Psychology. We were married in San Antonio, TX in 1995 and have been enjoying life together since then. While stationed in Germany, the greatest blessings of our lives arrived, our twin daughters were born in October 2004. Now we're all having fun in the Nation's Capital, but starting to look forward to retirement from the Air Force and a return to the New Orleans area to start the next chapter in our lives.
